WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO LEAD IGNITE AT YOUR SCHOOL?

At my school we had an Ignite club, but I decided to take on the club myself since I wanted the leader of the club to inspire girls to be lead by a girl!  I think the best way to show girls what they can do is to lead by example.

WHAT IMPACT HAS IGNITE HAD ON YOUR FEMALE STUDENTS?

I will never know the full impact of what IGNITE has done for my girls over the length of their careers and lives, but I do see many signs that indicate the short term impacts.  I have had girls get to do things that they never would have imagined, from climbing inside of a bridge, to going to meet Engineers in Washington DC, to going behind the scenes at Facebook, and the girls are really wowed and excited! They are constantly telling me that they want to work at all these places!

ARE THERE ANY MEMORABLE STORIES ABOUT HOW IGNITE HAS HAD AN IMPACT ON A PARTICULAR GIRL?

I recently received an email from a parent, saying  “{her daughter} and her friends talk about how much the field trips are expanding their horizons.” This young lady goes to all my events and is so quiet that I would never have known the impact that it was having with her if not for her mom forwarding this message to me. She is only a freshman, so there is still so much that I get to show her and time is on her side to see where it takes her.
