WHAT ABOUT IGNITE HAS INSPIRED YOU?

IGNITE inspired me to be more comfortable being a smart girl.  It also showed me career opportunities that I had never considered before.  I have gained confidence to try new things and have been trying new things. I got the opportunity to go to Digigirlz at Microsoft and was blown away by all of the smart and strong women and girls in the room. Dona Sakar, a key note speaker at Digigirlz, really encouraged me that it was OK to have different passions and to purse them at the same time.  I have since gained the confidence to model in Seattle’s Fashion Week and to apply for a summer camp for minorities who are interested in Medical Careers. I am interested in possibly becoming a doctor.

WHY DO YOU THINK IGNITE HAS IMPACTED THE WAY YOU THINK ABOUT A CAREER CHOICE?

It made me feel more confident about my career choices.  It has empowered me to take full advantage of the opportunities presented to me to explore and prepare for my future interests.  Before I would have thought I may not be smart enough or I may not fit in. Now I go in boldly knowing I can do it.

HOW HAS IGNITE IMPACTED YOUR CHOICES ABOUT WHAT CLASSES TO TAKE? OR ABOUT SCHOOL IN GENERAL?

I am now taking more challenging classes and participating in clubs and coding classes that will help me be prepared for life after high school.

HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT THE IGNITE PROGRAM?

I am thankful that Ms. Charissa encouraged me to participate in IGNITE Panels, Field Trips and Digigirlz.  In IGNITE I discovered other smart girls and found that it is OK to be intelligent and to try new things. I have been inspired by every woman I have met and know that if I have a question or am struggling that there is a network of IGNITE women who will support me.
