Students enjoy a day at Microsoft for a choose-your-adventure tour of either the Xbox Play Lab or the Microsoft Retail Center. In the Xbox Play Lab, you get to play an Xbox game and go behind the scenes to see how we get feedback on games like Minecraft and Halo! For the Retail Center, the girls will get a unique mix of Marketing/Sales (how we market and sell our Microsoft products and devices), as well as the backend of our retail technology (how we use tools like Power BI, Azure, and Dynamics).
After the tours, the girls will come together into a larger room to enjoy pizza, salad, and dessert. After lunch, a panel of women who work at Microsoft will tell their stories and host a Q&A with the girls, sharing how they got into their careers and what challenges they’ve had to overcome, imparting advice and encouragement. We’ll also have resources and encourage the girls to learn computer science at home for free, with Minecraft on Code.org and Microsoft Small Basic.
