Join Microsoft for an introduction to coding, using Microsoft Small Basic. Your students will learn professional-style programming as they command a turtle to create shapes like flowers and fireworks! A panel of women who work at Microsoft will tell their stories and host a Q&A with the girls, sharing how they got into their careers and what challenges they’ve had to overcome, imparting advice and encouragement. Each mobile coding workshop is flexible to your schedule, and can be adapted for Elementary, Middle School, High School, or Advanced High School levels.
Here is a sample agenda:
– 90 minutes: Coding Exercises
– 20 to 30 minutes: Lunch
– 45 minutes: Panel speakers with Q&A
Note that the workshop can be scheduled to include time for a lunch break, or can be scheduled after lunch. This event will take place on your school’s campus. Times and dates are flexible and will be scheduled in January through June of 2019. These events are limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
Give girls and non-binary students the opportunity to learn through your personal story. Register to speak on this panel here.
Talley High School’s IGNITE chapter is looking for a group of women to share their personal story with a diverse group of girls and non-binary students.
When the students hear how you navigated the challenges of persevering and succeeding in STEM careers they gain confidence and fully realize their future potential and possibilities.
Please be prepared to arrive at 9:45am the day of this event.
