BIO

I am a server-side software engineer at TUNE, Inc. in Seattle. I graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Informatics, and a minor in Mathematics. I have a passion for supporting education initiatives (including, of course, IGNITE Worldwide), particularly for underserved communities. Outside of work, I am an aerialist, enthusiastic traveler, and cheer coach for Ingraham High School. My favorite IGNITE panel ever was when I got to speak at Ingraham to an audience that included many of my cheerleaders!

WHY YOU ARE INVOLVED WITH IGNITE?

I initially got involved with IGNITE through TUNE, who partners with IGNITE and hosts frequent panels. I stay with the program because I love how it tries to make outreach accessible for all students, not just those who can afford to participate in after school programs.

HOW HAS IGNITE INSPIRED YOU?

Meeting the variety of bright, energetic young women who attend IGNITE events has inspired me. It is a constant reminder to me that we advance farther if we lift each other up, support each other, and offer guidance to the next generation of technologists.

WHAT VALUE DOES IGNITE PROVIDE FOR GIRLS?

IGNITE does a great job of providing girls the opportunity to see themselves (or people like themselves) in STEM careers. It lets girls know that they don’t have to fit a specific mold to be successful.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE OUR WIDER COMMUNITY TO KNOW ABOUT IGNITE?

I would love to get more female industry professionals involved in IGNITE! I’d love to see other companies in the area step up and sponsor events and panels.
