IGNITE Press Release – The IGNITE Spring Gala

TAKING FLIGHT (2)

SEATTLE, WA (3.31.16) – IGNITE Worldwide will host its 1st Annual Spring Gala on Friday, April 29th, 2016 at 6:00 PM at the Museum of Flight in Seattle. The event will benefit the nonprofit with funds going towards the IGNITE program support and inspiration of thousands of girls to pursue STEM education and careers for the 2016-17 school year.

The evening will begin with an open bar cocktail reception in the Museum of Flight side gallery where guests will have a chance to mingle, bid in the silent auction, or view the amazing aircraft on display in the museum. The cocktail reception will be followed by dinner, inspiring speeches by local executive women in technology, awards for 2 outstanding IGNITE teachers, short stories about the impact of IGNITE from alumni and students, and a live auction conducted by Nelson Jay.

Our highlighted auction for the evening will be 2 Tickets to the SOLD-OUT Adele Concert in September 2016 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, including a 2-Night Hotel Stay with Airfare for 2. Don’t miss this exclusive opportunity!

Sarah Bird will be our emcee for the evening. Sarah is the CEO of Moz.com and a passionate advocate for supporting girls in STEM and women in tech. Julie Larson-Green, Microsoft Chief Experience Officer and head of Microsoft Office, will be our keynote speaker. Julie won the Women of Vision ABIE Award for Leadership in 2015.

The IGNITE Spring Gala audience includes representation by executives and professionals from multiple technology companies in the Puget Sound area including Microsoft, Starbucks, Nordstrom, REI, AT&T, Tune.com, and many more. The audience will also include candidates running for state office positions. We expect the evening to include exciting and engaging conversations around how we can work together to increase the support for more girls to pursue STEM education and careers.

“The funds raised from The IGNITE Spring Gala are vital in ensuring that girls attain every opportunity to flourish. IGNITE has proven that the program increases female enrollment in STEM classes from less than 10% to over 50% when IGNITE is active in a school,” said Cathi Rodgveller, Founding and Managing Director of IGNITE.

IGNITE introduces school girls from grades 6-12 to technology careers via panel discussions, job shadowing, technology workshops, mentoring, and field trips throughout the school year to visit the work places of professional women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) careers. IGNITE has educated and empowered over 30,000 young women in middle school and high school grades to pursue education and careers in STEM. In addition to over 41 chapters formed primarily in the Pacific Northwest and across the United States, IGNITE has international chapters in Nigeria and Uganda.

The ticket price for the party is $150.00 per person or $1500.00 for a table of ten, while sponsorship opportunities include a $15,000 Gold Sponsor, $10,000 Silver Sponsors, $5,000 Bronze Sponsors, and $1,500 Table Sponsors.
