WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO LEAD IGNITE AT YOUR SCHOOL?
I was actually attracted to IGNITE base on the platform that a lot of woman who had made remarkable achievements on the Field of STEM, and having listened to their success stories, I was challenged to improve myself. It has also motivated me as a driving force to encourage young upcoming girls to pursue a career in science and technology.

WHAT IMPACT HAS IGNITE HAD ON YOUR FEMALE STUDENTS?
IGNITE has really impacted the life of my female students in the area of career choice, initially, girls in my school shy away from science and technology related field of studies in their senior secondary school 1, 2 (equivalent of year 10 and 11), but after listening and having participated in IGNITE programs as it is always held in my school, in IGNITE Club activities, their earlier assumptions that such courses are mainly reserved for the male folks has dropped. Now many of them offer engineering and technology careers courses when they left for Polytechnic and Universities, and they are doing great in their new Institutions.

There is a particular student from my school by name AISHA Abdullahi; when she was admitted in my school, and from her junior class she prefer to be humanities department but as time goes on, especially after IGNITE was inaugurated in my school in 2011, she joined IGNITE Club and she has never failed to attend series of programs being organized by IGNITE and these really changed her perception and love for STEM- SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATHEMATICS fields. Presently Aisha is taking a degree program in engineering, which she will be rounding up by August this year, 2018 by God’s grace.
