BIO

I am a high school student at Thomas Jefferson High School who is also doing Running Start to obtain an Associate of Science in Computer Science degree. Later I plan to go for my Bachelors in Computer Science at a four year university and work with amazing people in STEM. When I am not coding I am either outside running or inside painting and reading.

WHY YOU ARE INVOLVED WITH IGNITE?

I first became involved with IGNITE after attending a panel in my sophomore year of high school and from there it pushed me to not be afraid of STEM or challenges. IGNITE has also become the reason I decided to be more involved in coding and pursue computer science as a serious career. They showed me the opportunities and support I had, giving me the confidence to be where I am today. It excites me to know and see all the doors they open for young girls like me who are trying to figure out what they want to do and how to do it.

HOW HAS IGNITE INSPIRED YOU?

IGNITE has inspired me to expose myself to STEM related opportunities such as robotics, coding, or engineering. I want to share these experiences with other girls whether they are interested or not because I realize it is important for them to be aware of the possibilities that are out there in STEM. IGNITE has also inspired me to break the stereotypes and misconceptions girls may see about STEM. Although it does require a lot of hard work and dedication, it is still a creative field that is very rewarding in the end.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE THE WIDER COMMUNITY TO KNOW ABOUT IGNITE?

I want the wider community to know how giving and selfless of a company IGNITE is. They truly care about their mission to educate and empower girls who want to learn and explore not just STEM, but a future for themselves. They give more than just dreams. IGNITE offers experience, exposure, and education for all girls they reach, which I know is growing day by day.
