SUMMARY:In-Person UX Design Workshop with Microsoft at White River High School (Buckley, WA)
DESCRIPTION:\nInspire IGNITE Students in STEM during an IGNITE Workshop at White River High School at 26928 120th St E, Buckley, WA 98321!\n\n\n\nIGNITE aims to increase gender diversity in high-wage/high demand STEM fields, such as technology and engineering. During this Workshop, Microsoft volunteers are invited to work with students on UX Design concepts, using internal Microsoft curriculum. We are seeking Panelists and Small Group Activity Leaders to support this event.\n\n\n\nWhite River High School serves a diverse student population, with a high percentage of students from economically challenged households. Women, nonbinary, transgender, agender, and genderqueer professionals at Microsoft who represent these perspectives are highly encouraged to sign up as Panelists to share their stories and answer student questions!\n\n\n\nThis is an incredible opportunity to change an IGNITE student’s life! After signing up as a panelist, volunteers are required to complete our Panelist Training at least once per school year and attend a live, interactive Virtual Panelist Coaching Session if they have not attended one in the past. \n\n\n\nThe total time commitment is about 2 hours of pre-event preparation for new Volunteers and 30 minutes of preparation for returning Volunteers, in addition to 2.5 hours for the event itself. Training must be completed by March 16.\n\n\n\nApproximate time commitment:\n\n\n\nNew Volunteer: 4.5 hours – 2 hours prep (training, coaching, materials review) + 2.5-hour event\n\n\n\nReturning Volunteer: 3 hours – 30 minutes prep + 2.5-hour event\n
