We provide the space, tools and community to foster original research projects, hands-on lab training that builds real-world bench skills for ages 12+, community projects open to the public, and project-based research experiences for middle and high school students. https://www.sound.bio/mission\n\n\n\nJoin us for a tour of SoundBio Lab, Seattle’s only biology makerspace, where our mission is to make hands-on biology accessible to everyone!Then dive into the fascinating world of phytoremediation — the use of plants to remove pollutants from water. In this interactive workshop, you’ll build your own phytoremediation chamber and use digital imaging and R to investigate how duckweed and aquatic ferns can help remove heavy metals and toxins from contaminated water. Along the way, we’ll explore the health impacts of water contamination, discuss ongoing environmental cleanup efforts in Washington State, and examine the real-world potential of plant-based remediation technologies.\n\n\n\n\nAll visitors must be 12 or older and sign a media release agreement\n\n\n\nStudents must bring their own lunches\n\n\n\n\n\n
