Build It and Connect It: Livable Structures and Utilities Workshop with KPFF Consulting Engineers – Lacey

Build It and Connect It: Livable Structures and Utilities Workshop with KPFF Consulting Engineers - Lacey

Explore how civil engineering and site design shape the world we live in! Students will use simple provided materials like cardboard, pipe cleaners, and tape to build their own mini-house or apartment building and connect it to the utilities that make it livable. They’ll also get to try out designing and building a storm drain system that can handle heavy rainfall without flooding the house or causing erosion. Join the design engineers of KPFF’s Lacey office to discover how civil engineering is one of the ways you can make a difference with your creativity and skills!

KPFF is a nationwide company with a civil engineering design office in Lacey, WA and our office helps developers, cities, and counties to design roads, sites, pipes, parking lots, and sidewalks (to name a few). We figure out the solutions to all kinds of challenges in our everyday world, like how to get rivers and streams under roads so that fish can pass, how to get enough water for the shower and the laundry for everyone, and how to build a parking lot that doesn’t turn into a puddle in the rain. Like most civil engineers, we love taking on challenges big and small to make sure the systems in the world around us are functional and accessible.

This Workshop is available at your school for students in grades 6-postsecondary, in the Puget Sound region in Olympia/Lacey and the surrounding South Sound area.
