Coding Workshop at Ida B. Wells Continuation High School

Ida B. Wells Continuation High School in San Francisco gives a big shout out to Make School (www.makeschool.comfor creating and presenting a coding workshop. The students were engaged and enthusiastic about the awesome coding activity and Q&A panel discussion.  Students use javascript to create a wizard that levitates and uses a wand. This was the first time many of our female students tried their hand at coding. Thank you to Lucia, Anisha, Jordan, Medi, Keoni, Seve, and Akhtar for assisting students.

I enjoyed making the wizard and asking for help when it was needed.”

“ I enjoyed getting to code and getting to know more about this program.”

After the coding workshop, Lucia, Alisha, and Jordan were on a panel where they shared their stories. Their stories really resonated with the students. Thank you again for the opportunity for our students to meet such a talented and diverse group of computer scientists!

“I enjoyed when the panel opened up about their background.”

Hearing the mentors personal experience inspired me not to give up.”
