In-Person Womxn in STEM Panel at Rainier Beach High School, Seattle, WA

Inspire girls and non-binary students with your story! IGNITE aims to introduce girls/non-binary students to high wage/high demand STEM fields where womxn are underrepresented, such as technology and engineering. Rainier Beach High School, located at 8815 Seward Park Ave S, Seattle, WA 98118, is hosting two back-to-back in-person panels during their Career Day, and we are looking for volunteers who are available for the morning from 9 am-12 pm. We will send you room number and check in details once you confirm.

Rainier Beach High School is the only Title 1 high school in Seattle, and serves many families of African American, East African, Filipino, Vietnamese, Latinx, and Pacific Islander descent. We hope to introduce students to womxn in STEM with similar backgrounds. While the event will be in English, speakers of Somali, Oromo, Tagalog, Ilocano, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Samoan who work in STEM fields are highly encouraged to sign up as Panelists for this event.

This is an incredible opportunity to change a girl’s life! In order to make sure the girls get the most out of the experience, Panelists are required to take our new 2021 video training and complete one volunteer coaching session by May 6.

Note: We want to ensure students are exposed to a variety of opportunities in STEM. If your job is similar to another panelist who has already signed up, we may ask you to participate in the next event instead.

All in-person volunteers are required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and practice social distancing and other public health measures as required by our school partners.
