In-Person Panel at Lakota Middle School (Federal Way, WA)

Inspire IGNITE Students in STEM during an IGNITE Mini-Panel at Lakota Middle School at 1415 SW 314th St., Federal Way, WA 98023!

IGNITE aims to increase gender diversity in high-wage/high demand STEM fields, such as technology and engineering. Lakota Middle School serves a diverse student population, with high percentages of Latinx and Black students. Students at Lakota are particularly interest in health sciences, technology, and business. Women, nonbinary, transgender, agender, and genderqueer professionals who represent these perspectives are highly encouraged to sign up as Panelists to share their stories and answer student questions!

This is an incredible opportunity to change an IGNITE student’s life! After signing up as a panelist, volunteers are required to complete our Panelist Training at least once per school year and attend a live, interactive Virtual Panelist Coaching Session if they have not attended one in the past.

The total time commitment is about 2 hours of pre-event preparation for new Panelists and 30 minutes of preparation for returning Panelists, in addition to two hours for the event itself. Training must be completed by October 4.

Approximate time commitment:

New Panelist: 3.5 hours 2 hours prep (training, coaching, materials review) + 1.5-hour event

Returning Panelist: 2 hours 30 minutes prep + 1.5-hour event
