International IGNITE Virtual Panel Event

On October 29th, 2025, IGNITE Worldwide’s International Chapter hosted an inspiring and interactive virtual panel for high school and college students from Algeria, Austria, Peru, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The event featured STEM professionals from Trase, including Lindsay Hua, Director of Engineering; Shristi Srivastava, Machine Learning Engineer; and Elizabeth Karpinski, Member of Technical Staff (Machine Learning). Each shared their experiences, challenges, and insights on pursuing and thriving in technology careers. The session was facilitated by Fariza Ginulla, International Intern at IGNITE Worldwide, with technical support from Aisha Zholdasbayeva, team member of the International Chapter.

The Panel, themed “Emerging Tech Fields and How Women Can Lead Them,” began with an engaging introduction from the facilitator, who explained the importance of emerging technologies in shaping the future. The discussion quickly evolved into an open exchange, as panelists shared their personal career journeys and reflected on pivotal moments that led them into the tech industry.

Students actively participated in the conversation, asking thoughtful questions such as, “Was there a defining moment that made you realize this was the right field for you?”, “Engineering is a very competitive field—how can someone ensure they find a job after college?”, “How can students gain real-world experience before landing their first tech job?”, “What’s one thing you wish schools taught better about technology or innovation?”, and “What are your thoughts on AI governance?” Panelists responded with encouragement, sharing stories of continuous learning, and the importance of mentorship.

The event left participants motivated about exploring their own passions within the vast landscape of tech. Students gained a clearer understanding of what it’s like to work in fields such as Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, and what skills are essential for success in these evolving areas. Participants also noted that it was their first time being in a transparent and safe space with women from tech fields—individuals who once seemed distant but now felt relatable and inspiring.

Overall, the session provided a meaningful platform for cross-cultural dialogue and mentorship. This marks the first event organized by IGNITE Worldwide’s youth-led International Chapter with many more inspiring sessions yet to come.

“Lately, I’ve been feeling quite demotivated after a series of hackathons and life setbacks. But this panel session truly reignited my motivation and reminded me why I started in the first place! Thank you so much.”
