WHY YOU ARE INVOLVED WITH IGNITE WORLDWIDE?

I have a strong passion for supporting historically stigmatized identities in STEM Education. I spent most of my education with an extreme passion for science, technology, engineering, and math. Unfortunately, there were no programs in my educational system like IGNITE to drive and support that passion. I want to make sure this is never the case for anyone else who deserves the opportunity to access their passion, but faces preventive systemic barriers, again. I want to be part of the change and watch others thrive and not be discriminated against because of their identity.

HOW HAS IGNITE WORLDWIDE INSPIRED YOU?

I have sat on panels in schools where IGNITE is serving young girls and listened to their stories and their dreams, goals, and expectations. Sharing in their stories is very inspirational and reminds me of why the work is so necessary and vital to these young girls. The populations IGNITE serves are the main source of my inspiration.

Cheryl Ingram Ph.D. is an inspiring, innovative, solutions oriented,  thought leader and practitioner of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Her passion for equity and equality ignited her current career path as the CEO and Founder of Diverse City LLC a DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) consulting firm, and Inclusology, a small tech startup.
She has been training and coaching in the area of diversity and inclusion for 15 years.
In relation to her passionate career, she currently serves on the Board of Directors for Un-loop, a national technical training program that addresses recidivism in prisons throughout Washington State. She is also an active supporter of IGNITE.
