In-Person Panel & Workshop at Eastern WA Computer Science Fair (Wenatchee, WA)

Join IGNITE for a unique opportunity to inspire high school girls, nonbinary, transgender, agender, and genderqueer students from across Washington State!

The Eastern Washington Computer Science Fair will be held in-person at Town Toyota Center: 1300 Walla Walla Ave, Wenatchee, WA 98801, with an estimated 800-1,000 students in attendance.

We are looking for volunteers to support four 40-min breakout sessions between 11am-2pm, each for around 25 IGNITE Students, including two sessions sharing your story on an IGNITE Panel and two sessions working with students in a UX Design Workshop activity (curriculum provided, no experience needed). Ideally, volunteers will be able to support all sessions. If you are only available for a portion of the event, please share your availability upon signup.

IGNITE aims to increase gender diversity wage/high demand STEM fields, such as technology and engineering. Women, nonbinary, transgender, agender, and genderqueer professionals working in these fields are highly encouraged to sign up.

Participating schools have a high percentage of Hispanic and Latina students. Volunteers who represent these perspectives are highly encouraged to sign up.

This is an incredible opportunity to change a student’s life! After signing up as a panelist, volunteers are required to review our 10-min Panelist Training Video at least once per school year and attend a live, interactive Virtual Panelist Coaching Session if they have not attended one in the past. Training must be completed by Friday, Nov. 4.

Lunch is provided for all volunteers.

No vaccination or masking requirements are currently in place. COVID protocols are subject to change per local guidance.
